Hello! I’m Valerie!
I’m a Virtual Bookkeeper and founder of the Borderless Bookkeeper blog.
My goal is to help small business owners take control of their cash flow and avoid costly bookkeeping mistakes. I do this through meticulously analyzing, recording, and reconciling each financial transaction using cloud-based accounting software like Xero and QuickBooks.
I work remotely primarily from my home office in Metro Manila. Still, I am known to bring my laptop with me on trips, whether in scenic San Francisco, bustling Bangkok, or trendy Tokyo.
My Journey Towards Becoming a Bookkeeper
My career path hasn’t been a straight line. After earning a business degree in my 20s, I opened a small bakery, selling cakes and pastries baked in my parents’ kitchen. In my 30s, I discovered the world of online jobs and embraced being a digital nomad, balancing remote digital marketing work and operations management as I taught English in Thailand. When the pandemic struck and work slowed down, I had a lot of time to dive into finance.
Because of that, I’ve found a new passion in my 40s – bookkeeping.
My broad range of experiences across different industries has given me an understanding of how businesses work globally. As a virtual bookkeeper, my keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills really come in handy as I help business owners keep their books organized and error-free.
Why “Borderless Bookkeeper”
Bookkeeping, like business, has no boundaries.
Being a borderless bookkeeper means I work with businesses from anywhere in the world, leveraging the power of technology to keep your finances in order, no matter where you’re located.
Also, having provided remote services to businesses for over a decade, I’ve mastered the art of meeting deadlines while working across different time zones. Hence, with me as your virtual bookkeeper, your books are always in good hands, regardless of where I am.
Fun Fact
I wasn’t a cat person until this little guy showed up and decided to live in our garage. I now affectionately call him Grey and find myself talking to him every mealtime because he hates eating alone.
